A slight diversion from glass; a page devoted to photos of glass.
All images are copyright © David P.Encill and may not be used
without express permission.
So...
just ask! Most are taken using 'macro' (close up) using either
Fuji FinePix S5000 or Nikon Coolpix 775
digital cameras.
Cadmium
Even broken glass can sometimes give inspiration and
demonstrates the fragile beauty.
This was taken to demonstrate
to the sender of the parcel
that, a) it was glass that
contained cadmium,
and b) it got broken in transit! |

Selenium
Selenium glows a pale pink/orange under UV light
and sometimes the results
can give a startling contrast when
the violet background is
visible. |
 |
Uranium
Same vase, different camera – just goes to show
how different cameras can
interpret uranium glass
under UV (top is Fuji,
bottom is Nikon).
Neither photo
was edited in any
way. |

Carnival
The iridescence of Carnival Glass gives so many
opportunities for some
classy photos — even if
this piece is actually
a fake piece of Northwood! |

Fratelli Tosa?
Some dispute over the attribution of this Murano
dish; either Fratelli Tosa
or A.Ve.M... but what the
hell – a nice edge shot
showing the silver inclusions
in the deep cobalt-blue glass. |

Cenedese Elephant
At least I think it's Cenedese... a superb glass
sculpture with puleguso body splattered with large
gobs of copper aventurine.
Large and very heavy
but, believe it or not,
I actually gave this away
as a present! |
 |
Chance
Even the cheap end of glass collecting can produce
some gems. A ruby Chance
Fiestaware dish, featuring
the 'Swirl' pattern in gilt.
The JPEG image actually
gave poor results so
was saved as a GIF. |

Paperweight
The intricate and diverse designs of paperweights
make it easy to take good-looking,
surreal photos with little
effort! |
